Welding of aluminum
We weld aluminum for industrial customers who need lightweight structures with good strength and resistance to corrosion. Since aluminum conducts heat efficiently and has a natural oxide layer, the material places special demands on the welding process. To achieve the right quality, we work with established methods and clear routines.
TIG and MIG/MAG welding of aluminum
We mainly use TIG and MIG/MAG welding for aluminum work. The choice of method is governed by material thickness, structural design and requirements for the weld properties.
- We use TIG welding when precision and control over the melting zone are important, for example with thin sheet metal.
- MIG/MAG welding is better suited for thicker materials or structures where production rate and joint strength are prioritized.
We adapt parameters, filler materials and shielding gas to each application.
Preparation and handling
To create reliable aluminum welds, we remove oxide layers and contaminants through mechanical and/or chemical cleaning. We work in adapted environments where we control handling, fixture and other factors that affect the end result. If necessary, we apply preheating, especially for larger material thicknesses.
Quality and certification
All our aluminum welding is carried out according to established quality routines and certified processes, ISO 3834–2. We perform visual inspection of all welds and supplement them with measurement inspection or non-destructive testing if necessary, depending on the requirements specification.
